Acne Scar Treatment

There are currently a number of acne scar treatment options available and several of them involve laser and light-based systems similar to the ones used for hair removal.

Laser resurfacing refers to utilizing a laser (such as the C02 laser) to peel away damaged skin layer by layer.

Often used to remove wrinkled skin or to assist with pigmentation problems, this process can also be used to remove acne scars.

The laser removes the necessary layers of skin and when healing has been completed, the result should be a better skin tone and less or no scarring visible.

Light-based systems (similar to the ones used for hair removal) can also be used for acne scar treatment.

You might also consider medical options (ie. prescription products) which are available for acne scar treatment if you are not interested in laser or light-based options.

In all cases, consult with a professional practitioner such as a dermatologist or plastic surgeon regarding possible treatment options and possible side effects.
