Female Hair Loss
Female hair loss is less prevalent than male hair loss but the cultural effect (ie. the stigmatism) can as bad if not worse since it's not as common.
Female hair loss tends to occur in women whose family members have also experienced hair loss although with women, complete baldness is not common like it is with men.
It is most commonly seen later in life which is different from men who can start experiencing hair loss in their 20s but it can occur earlier for women, too.
As with male hair loss, different people can experience different results.
Female hair loss is commonly caused by hormonal changes but it can also be caused by stopping medication like birth control pills, stress and other factors although in these cases the hair loss could be temporary.
Consult with a medical professional to be sure rather than diagnosing yourself.
While men have medical several options available to them to combat hair loss, several of them
don't work for women.
Currently, the only medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat female hair loss is Rogaine.
