Hair Restoration

Hair restoration is a term often used to describe several forms of dealing with hair loss.

I've seen hair transplants and hair systems referred to as "hair restoration" in the sense that they might restore the look of a full head of hair, but in different ways.

Hair restoration surgery or (simply a "hair transplant") is a surgical process that involves transplanting hair from one part of your head to the balding areas.

A hair system is a non-surgical procedure that uses hair (not yours) weaved into a matrix or other device which is then bonded to your scalp with glue and/or adhesives. The system generally remains in place for up to several months and you need to go back to the practitioner regularly to have it maintained and reaffixed to your scalp.

It's basically a hair piece that is custom designed for your scalp and is bonded to your scalp in a semi-permanent way.

While a successful hair transplant might involve up to several visits with no ongoing costs once the transplantations are completed, hair systems generally involve the ongoing costs of maintenance described above as well as the possible use of special shampoo and conditioner as well as the cost of replacing the hair systems themselves every few years (or more frequently).

In the true sense of the word, hair restoration really refers to hair transplantation only since you are attempting to actually restore a full head of hair or at least a fuller head of hair.

A hair system basically covers up your balding areas for as long as you decide to wear the system and only restores the appearance of a full(er) head of hair.
