Hair Transplant Surgery
If you're considering hair transplant surgery it certainly won't be an easy decision and not necessarily a cheap one either.
Hair transplantation has certainly come a long way from their beginnings but there are still important considerations.
In particular going to a less-than-skilled practitioner can leave you scarred, bald and broke if the process is not done properly.
And probably very, very disappointed, too.
Many men and women suffered the consequences back in the 1970s and 1980s by paying for old-style procedures perhaps performed by less-than-skilled practitioners.
One of the side effects for those who underwent early hair transplants was a result known as doll hair effect.
Plugs or groups of hair were taken from the back of the head and then transplanted in groups in the bald spot. The resulting look was similar to a doll's hair where the person would be left with unnatural looking clumps of hair.
The end result was a very noticeable and hardly appealing look.
This is commonly known as a bad hair transplant, the one that is noticeable from a mile away.
I can think of one local minor celebrity who I've seen on tv who has had this procedure done and the resulting look is just terrible.
Many people who underwent this sort of surgery are either living with the results or paying more money to fix the mistake.
Having said that, newer hair transplant techniques from skilled practitioners can give you back what you aimed for: a full(er) head of hair.
Hair transplantation is a process that both men and women can have and just might provide a more effective solution than other hair loss options.
As with other options your best bet is to do your research, get references from a practitioner before you agree to a hair transplant and know your options.
