Dealing With Ingrown hairs
Ingrown hairs can occur after various hair removal treatments and can lead to small red bumps on your skin for several days or longer.
They can occur when you've removed a hair and the new hair that grows in curls back and grows back into your skin resulting in a red bump that might be painful.
Sometimes they can occur on a regular basis even when you haven't removed any hair.
Ingrown hairs often occur in a man's beard but can also occur in other body parts as well like the arms and legs.
Improper shaving techniques can often increase the chances of ingrown hairs through the use of dull razor blades or shaving against the direction of hair growth (ie. shaving against the grain)
I've personally experienced them on my arm from time to time and I don't shave my arms so in this case, the hair may have simply had trouble growing above the skin resulting in an ingrown hair.
When it comes to shaving, using a sharp razor, wetting your skin before shaving, applying shaving cream, and shaving with the growth of the hair are your best bets to try to minimize the chances of ingrown hairs or razor bumps as they are also known.
If this doesn't help, you might consider using an electric razor (or better yet, one that has a built-in moisturizer dispenser) since it can help minimize the number of ingrown hairs.
